"Walk Away" - A New Poem

“Walk Away”

The danger zone, it continues to persist,
Where opposites, continue to collide.
Does misfortune hinder my fortune?
Or does my fortune, cause my misfortune.
No, that, that cannot be,
For I have no fortune,
Which might lead to my misfortune.
I could say the same for failure and success
Except like most, especially as a writer
I’ve had to endure failure, before even moderate success.

OCD! No, that’s not for me.
I stuffed it all, into a single seed.
A seed, long ago sowed.
So, tell me why, must I control,
Where, When and Why I Go.
I know the answer,
I can no longer, simply agree,
I want a say, in where I go, what I see.

I’ve heard it said, “curiosity is what killed the cat.”
Not for me, though, efficiency, is what killed this cat,
More than once, too, I hate to say.
For me efficiency doesn’t pay, no matter what they say
So now, when I feel the urge,
To improve on a process, that works perfectly fine.
I purge the idea, from my mind.
Get up, and simply walk away.
