Written in the early 80's - Fly Away

The following poem was written in the early 1980's and is part of a collection of verse from that era, that I recently rediscovered.  It definitely meets the criteria for this blog.

Fly Away

Fly away, fly away
Fly away sorrow
Leave me now, so I
May have a bright morrow.
Don’t tease me with the
Light, of a mid-storm calm.
Only to fill it with the wind
That rips the life from a palm.

You’ve watched me rise,
To stand proud and tall.
Only to trip me, so
You could watch the fall.
So fly away, fly away
Leave me NOW. Sorrow.
I don’t have any more
Lives from which to borrow.
